Odor on Mattress

We have just purchased a 2008 International 27 FB. We noticed there is a strong odor on the mattress smelled like disinfectant detergent. We called the dealer and they said that they didn't spray anything on the mattress, it probably comes with the manufacture or something the previous owner did. We tried different ways to clean it but we still couldn't get rid of the odor. Did any of you encounter the same problem? Any ideas of how to treat the mattress?

Might try taking it outside to air in the sun, which should help. If all else fails buy a cover for it.

Good point. The disinfectant odor could be the result of all manner of things, animate or inanimate.
