Lift install

Hi,

We have a 2021 Classic. We'd like to get it lifted. Is this possible?
The Dexter website and all I've found only goes to 2020 models.
Will appreciate any help.

Hi

One would assume that the Dexter site simply has not been updated for a while. A call to JC would be the best way to make sure what you need to do.

Given that a single trailer is a ton and a half, are you talking 2 trailers?[emoji846]

Hi

It's the anti-gravity beam that he uses to lift the trailers that has things mixed up.

I used to have one of those. It slipped away.

If you can retrieve the serial number from the sticker on the axles then call Dexter they will tell you what lift kit you need. You could order from Dexter, but I would order from Ronnie and get the bolts with the tabs welded on. Makes it much easier to install.

I am interested in lifting my 2021 Classic. I saw your reference to buying the kit from Ronnie to get the bolts with the tabs welded on. Sorry if I just plain missed it, but who is Ronnie and how do I reach him? Thanks!

Find out what axles you have and get the Dexter kit from etrailer.com or anyone else at a decent price.

You can do it yourself with usually little or no modifications depending on your setup underneath, or have any trusted and competent automotive or trailer shop do it.

Lots of threads on here about it.

Do get the lift kit from Ronnie - use the like above. Having the tabs welded to the bolts can make all of the difference during the install. His kit is worth the cost!

I have now installed lift kits on two Airstreams, a single axle Bambi and a dual axle 23FB.

I would suggest having:

-lift kit from Ronnie, with the tabs welded on the bolts. It cannot be emphasized more on how much work and aggravation this will save you.
-electric impact wrench; this will make it so much easier to loosen up the existing nuts and bolts that hold the axle to the frame.
-hydraulic jack to lower each axle then lift into place once the lift brackets are installed. Note: be sure to loosen both sides before lowering one side to prevent putting stress on the opposite side.
-sufficient safety jacks. I use six (6) positioned on the frame to spread the weight.
-torque wrench to tighten up the bolts and nuts. I think I torqued mine to 145 pounds.
-having a nice concrete floor and good lighting helps!

Or, just schedule with Ronnie and have him do it!

Steamy1, that's a great list of items. I did all that was suggested except for the first -- I scored some 2.5" stainless square tubing (1/4" wall) and made my own lift spacers. If you have a angle grinder and a drill press, it doesn't take all that much additional time.
