Right. I've not used mine for leveling and thought it odd that the previous post mentioned using them in that way.

Me also from TX, I know the issue can be caused by some of us guys having a bit of a buba issue out front...I know my weight can sway the trailer unless I have stabilizers good and solid on ground...just saying....I use the Ryobi cordless drill with the adaptor socket to lower/retract my stabilizers. Much faster and easier. I use 2 hands and take it slow, because the torque can "get ya" if your not careful...I also use the "X-Chock" scissor type tire stabilizers between the tires, which help alot.

Another cure could be a larger AS? :-)

And don't forget to raise them first thing when you break camp. (Add as #1 to top of your checklist).

Get an extra set of leveling blocks you would use under the tires to level the AS and put one under each stabilizer, almost eliminates the settling into dirt, gravel or sand. Its also always nice to have an extra set incase you get one of those ... sites.

Can you please elaborate on what aftermarket cross bracing systems means? Is this the same as X-chock between the wheels, or something different?

This is basically what we do. We travel with a bunch of those flat square plastic risers designed to go under the low-side tire. When camping on a soft surface like sand or wet soil, we put one under each stabilizer, as well.

Yup, we use plastic ramps for leveling and the plastic Lynx Blocks under stabilizers, and under the jack. If the slope is too severe for ramps, we also build platforms out of Lynx blocks and back the trailer up onto those.

We do not use wood blocks / ramps under the trailer for several reasons: (1) they are heavy (2) they get dirty and wet and are hard to clean (3) we worry they will draw bugs as they age (4) splinters, and (5) we just don't like them.

In California, we leave the stabilizers up. It smooths out the earthquakes. [emoji23]

What Ive looked at but haven't installed yet is a cross bracing system that helps stop sideways movement. Wheel chocks help back and forth but not the sideways rocking. One product is made by Winfield RV.
Google "cross bracing stabilizing jacks for RV " and you 'll see several options that make sense.

I can't imagine that the OP -- with a FC23 similar in length -- needs that level of cross-bracing for such a short trailer. The motion of the trailer moving when someone else walks in it is part of the romance of RV'ing IMO.

Like a boat rocking gently on the waves . . .

Expecting a rock-solid sleeping experience may be an expectation worthy of reconsideration.

Camping in a tent will provide a rock-steady floor, though.

Must have auto-corrected. I think it should be “rock-strewn” floor? At least that’s MY experience...[emoji3]

Yup. That’s why I’m camping in an Airstream with a more comfortable bed than when I was a long-time Boy Scout Adult Leader.
Went some really beautiful places, but nowadays I need more padding to sleep well.

Some of us, unfortunately, have added additional padding to our bodies over the years.
