Sun reflecting window screen material
At one time someone posted here about window screen material that was sun reflective. It has been awhile and I cannot find the thread.
Does anyone have any information or a link?
Thank you!

I use the solar screen material from Lowes. Since it is thicker than regular screen material, you will have tho stretch the locking piece to get it to seat in the groove. no big deal. You will notice a difference.

Go to Lowes and get this, Reflectix 100 sqft,(Reflective Roll Insulation (48-in W x 25-ft L) 1 roll did our 25ft with not much left over.
make your self a pattern for your windows and it will keep your AS cooler. I did all my windows in about an hour.
We have it in all our windows while traveling and keep the ones in the bedroom as my wife likes to sleep later than I do.

Did you cut them to fit in-between the glass and screen, or attached somehow on the inside of the trailer?

Cut them 1/8 inch larger than the window and they will stay in place when you push them in, on out side windows make sure you cut a notch where the windows lock, the window will hold them in place just fine.
you will find that it is very easy cut, just need a yard stick and a marker and scissor to do the job.

Window Tint!
I have had all of the lightly tinted windows in our Classic tinted with 20% ceramic auto tint and we love it! Privacy and greatly reduced sun and HEAT! Maxim skylights and we are good to go!

In AZ you need more than that, trying to keep the inside cool down traveling is a big job.
Before we put the Reflective Insulation in the windows it was really hot inside, when we stop it took a long time to cool down and made the AC work hard, now it cooler and not so hard to cool off.

I am trying to understand...windows and door and fans, everything is closed up to keep airstream cool on hot day, no ac or anything? Put the refletive in the windows. How do u get air?

I forgot to mention that I also had AS upgrade our bedroom AC to a 15K BTU from the normal 13.5K unit. The trailer cools down relatively quick. We traveled all over the Southwest last year and every day was in the triple digits, from the time we left Memphis till the time we got back to Memphis. Everything that we had done has helped tremendously. Still an AS is a natural heat sink! Not really built for "four seasons" living.

What brand of ceramic window film did you use? Did installer say they could not apply to two front curved windows?
I'm burning up using that area for an office!

When we bought day/night shades we had the night shade done in a reflective material. It makes a big difference. Probably not as big a difference as blocking the windows with Reflectix, but a noticeable difference and certainly easier to deal with.
I now notice the skylight and (I forget the name of the small window at the roof line), which have the stock shades let in a lot of heat. I'll either replace the shades with a reflective material or put some reflect in there.

Please forgive my queztion...do you leave refle tive in 24/7? Is it dark and cave like? I do enjoy looking out my winder in front, but like to be cool even more. Is there a temp you reach when you say, time to block up windows? I thank you in advance for these very basic understanding questions.

ShyAnne,
We had 3M Crystalline heat rejecting film installed to all of our Airstream windows (27'), including all the curved panoramic windows. Price was around $650. It does not darken the interior, and it rejects a substantial amount of heat.
Best regards,
Joe
