'67 Front window screen frame replacement
I'm missing the screen frame for the front window on our Caravel. I've taken it around to several shops in town and nobody seems to have stock to build a new frame. Framers refer to this type of frame as flange or lip frame, due to the lip that surrounds the screen frame (see attached). Anyone know of a source for frame replacement or have an extra they would like to get rid of? Frame size is approx. 21" x 38".

SlvrSt8Steve,
Please let me know if you find a resource! My original rear window screen has been replaced with an incorrect sized lousy replacement.

Sorry .
But the fact that several screen shops at least recognize the general shape/style of the frame material is a plus. Might mean that an exact dupe is not necessarily the only solution. If you could get the name of some of the places (distributors/wholesalers) the small shops buy their frame stock from, you might be able to start a more thorough search.
Did every window in your '67 have same screen frame?
Is it extruded aluminum? (most likely) or formed (bent from flat) ?
As for salvage from other Airstreams it would help if we knew what other mods used the same.
What other year models (besides 1967) used this exact type of screen.
Lastly and not what you want to hear, but that shape appears that it might be the easiest to faux-fab (McGiver) from common screen frame material with a flange overlaid (riveted) onto it. Like casing on a door frame or around a box frame. Using some shape of 90 degree angle. Actually the "mitered casing" would not have to be angle stock. And thin flange material aluminum is out there in numerous shapes and widths. (think flooring transitions, edge mouldings, tileboard trim, and many more).

SlvrSt8Steve,
I found a local (San Jose, CA) company that has a near perfect match for the screen frame. The frame is a 5/16" aluminum lip frame. For $9.00 I got 12ft of the frame and 4 internal corner connectors - enough to do the front or rear window with a little wiggle room. Their contact info is:

Hi. Do you still have these screens? I need one for a side window on a 1967 Overlander.
Thanks!

Are these curved?
Does the frame need a lip like the one shown in the thread.
What is the measurement they need to fit into?
Do they need to be square corners or rounded port hole?
Where are you located?
We can make brand new frames and screen.
The above information I need to quote you a price.

Hi Andy,
I have a 68 and am looking for several of these kinds of screens. Yes, they are curved, and the finish is polished.
Thank you,
Datta
