Basic Electrical Question (1992 25' Excella)

1992 Excella Classic 25'

Beginner question: My trailer has a 50 amp converter (which I'll be replacing soon because of its buzzing). However, the plug for accessing 110 power is a 30-amp plug. Why? If the converter is rated for 50 amps, couldn't I use either a 30-amp or 50-amp amp plug?

Thanks for any enlightenment you can offer.

The converter rating of 50 amp is the output of the converter at 12 VDC. The input at 120 VAC will be about 7 amps or so.

The 50 amp is the output of the converter at 12 volts, has nothing to do with you 120 volt system.

All you need to know about convertors.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll read up on converters with a goal of understanding at least the basics. First time I've owned anything with a converter in it.
