1960 caravanner converter/transformer ?

I am starting work on a 1960 Caravanner International.

My question is what charges the battery in the factory original configuration?

The ac/120 volt system is working somewhat but the 12 volt system is lacking. Only one vent fan will run when I flip switch to 12 volt/battery power so at least that transformer is working. The other vent fan and furnace fan will not run and there is no 12v power going into the batteries or the lights. If I hook the battery to a charger the 12 v lights work but the the forward vent van and furnace blower still do not work.
If anyone has some insights on the set up they would share with me I would appreciate it. I did search the site did not find anything dealing with the charging / converter set up on this model and year.

Thank You

Steve
