Thoughts on sizing solar instl

I have recently been shown why my idea to install as many solar panels as I can (rather than sized to some perceived usage) is paying off
I have 600 Watts of panels installed, and while it is unlikely I will every need, nor achieve 600 watts output, I have just lived thru several less than ideal days (not full sunshine) and was still able to fully recharge my batteries each day.
If I had installed only 200 or 400 watts, that may not have been the case.
with 6 panels, some will be in full sun, some will be shaded by the A/C units (or clouds, trees) or you might have a general overcast.
on those days -- getting 10% of 600 watts sure beats 10% of 200, 400 or even the 180 Watts that I think the factory installs.
The solar panels are the cheapest and easiest part of the install -- go for the gusto!

I agree! I initially went with a 200 watt solar suitcase from Renogy. I found that was not enogh. In 2019, I built a second 200 watt suitcase, so 400 watts that I can move around if I am shaded. It worked much better, but still left me wanting. I have ordered 400 Ahrs of lithium batteries which will arrive in January. I think that will do the trick since they charge much quicker. If not, I will add the next 200 watts to the roof, but do not tell my wife... She will shoot me if she finds out!
