Expanding Solar on 2020 Bambi 22FB

I have done some searching and have not been able to find a specific answer so if it exists, please forward and apologies in advance.

I just purchased a 2020 Bambi 22fb with the factory installed solar. I believe it has the 90w panel installed as standard. I also understand it is a Zamp panel.

My question is this, how many more panels can I add? Additional 90w panels, larger panels with greater charging power, etc.? Has anyone maxed out their Bambi/Sport 22FB and what did you install?

Thanks very much and excited to be a new member of the Airstream community!

Welcome Boldie24. I can't answer your question on how many panels will fit, but I will give you a link to read about mixing solar panels: https://solarpanelsvenue.com/mixing-solar-panels/

Its important to carefully match the voltage and amps on any mixed panels to avoid potentially significant losses to charging capabilities. I have mixed panels on my 27' Airstream and found panels that were closely matched to maximize charging potential. https://www.airforums.com/forums/f44...ml#post2288336

I'll bet Waninae39 will be along to answer your specific question about solar on a 22' Airstream. I think he has found a solution to maximize solar on his 22'.

Thanks very much for the insight and links. I will definitely check it out. We plan on doing some boon docking out west and want to maximize what I can with solar knowing that we will probably need a generator as well. I also like to solar keeping power to the trailer for my security system while at the storage facility.

I will DM Waninae39 as well.

Thanks again.

@boldie24, I did a substantial solar install on my 2016 22FB a few years ago and generated a CAD drawing of the roof to help with the solar panel layout. Check out the information in this thread.

If you combined my approach with what Waninae39 did on the rear of his trailer, then you definitely would be maxed out. I have found my 300W solar install to be perfectly adequate and keeps the batteries charged at all times, especially with an additional portable panel with 25' extension cord that is wired to connect at the front of the trailer.
