LED interior lights: A complaint

No, I'm not going to grouse about the overall lack of light. My gripe is the flat back on "puck" lights and the general lack of space for wire connections. With 110v lighting, there is normally a box where one can neatly (and safely) tuck the wiring. While the LED lights I have picked up have very thin lead wires (sub 18 gauge) there is no offset to allow connections to the heavier trailer wiring. Apparently the puck lights are intended to be flush mounted with any connections on the "other" side of an overhead or bulkhead.

While I could widen the hole the trailer wiring comes through and tuck the wiring into the overhead, I dislike the idea. I prefer having the wiring and connectors readily accessible and in a location where any potential problem are contained. I can flush mount a few lights on wood bulkheads, but with the overhead lights, I'm going to need to fabricate a spacer. If companies making LED pucks are charging $20 to $100+, why not throw in a plastic spacer for a few more cents?

Rant off.
