They come with various plug or pigtail configurations as well as various mounting styles.

On my last car the 3rd brake light went out. To get a replacement they wanted a kings ransom, so I had some led strips left over from another project. I jus soldered on some leads and but it all back together and it was plenty bright. Didn't cost me a cent just some time and the left over Led strip was scrap anyway.
