Cool wiring on old par water pump

Hi I'm replacing the Par water pump on my 75 Tradewind. There's some black wires running into the motor and then it appears that one of the wires runs down to the bottom of the pump frame to another switch or relay box with a third wire (orange) running into relay. Does anyone know what this set up is all about and what my concerns will be? Thanks in advance!

The new pump will have it's negative connection where the current motor has a black wire which runs to the motor directly. The positive connection on the new pump will be to the place the orange wire is connected on the old system.

What color are the wires coming out of the wall? Typically there is a white and colored wire.
The white is normally negative and the colored wire is positive.
Connect the colored wire to the red(+) on the pump and the white to the black(-) on the pump.

Thanks

Thanks, I got the problem solved with your help. The relay just threw me off. The new Shurflo works like a dream. Of course now I have a leak or a bad connection or whatever some where in the pumping system. My plumber friend is helping find the problem.
