Great idea! Please keep us informed as you go as to how it is working out.

I took the AI out for a couple of nights. I hooked up the usual 30-amp and then plugged in a 14-awg extension cord to the added outside 20-amp input. I have installed a rotary switch that allows me to choose between using internal 30-amp power to the water heater or powering it from the added external 20-amp socket. I flipped the switch over to the 20-amp external power so that I had full 30-amp power to the microwave and AC. I did use the AC for a short time to cut down the humidity in the coach.

I found I had plenty of hot water to shower each morning and wash dishes. It takes about 20 minutes to heat the tank to the set temperature. Bosch has an ideal setting marked on the dial and that was where I had it set. Had I needed more hot water, I could have turned it up to full hot and added more cold water at the faucet. At the Bosch recommended setting, there is no danger of scalding.

I could always turn it full up and add a mixing valve, but I see no need for that.

It takes about 2 seconds to get hot water in the bathroom. The galley takes more time because of the long length of PEX to the galley.

I am completely satisfied with my new water heater.

I have a 2020 AI 19, sad to say, I have never had any hot water at all. I'm not mechanical inclined , what should I do, besides take it back to dealership? I left the message of course no reply!

If you get a chance to camp (hard during these times), you could ask another camper for advice (iffy in these times). Just on the off chance you're not doing something right.

Usually it is just a matter of having your battery switch on, propane tank full and switched on, then turn your hot water heater. What are your symptoms and what have you tried?

There is a "Water Heater Propane" switch on my main touch panel. Make sure that is on.

Mine took full flow for 7 seconds to get it to light. That's why I replaced it.

For 2020 AI 19 does it use propane or electric to heat the fresh water tank?

That's because there is no such thing as a "hot" water heater.
If anything it is a "cold" water heater.
Why would you want to heat "hot" water?

This is what Airstream should use in all Interstates... the current one in the Lounge and GT sucks...
