Slinky touching the ground

Has anyone ever heard of a California law that prohibits your slinky from touching the ground? Have I missed something?

Some jurisdictions require that all sewer hoses be suspended above the ground when hooked up to a sewer port for an extended period of time (i.e., not for a quick dump station run.) I've been told that this is to make any leaks more obvious. Not sure about this being a state-wide requirement in CA but it would not surprise me if it was.

We spend over 200 nights in our Airstream each year, most in California RV parks. We are currently in a park in Indio, CA, and were told that it is a state law. If it is state law, fine. I don't think it is. If the park wants to make it a rule at the park, I have no problem. If they tell me it is a state law when it isn't, that's a problem for me.
I hate it when my "BS" alarm goes off.
Just me I guess.

Please close this tread. If New Jersey hears about this they will make it a law and we have enough stupid laws already.

If this is in fact a state or campground rule can anyone give the "supporting" rational for it?

I don't mind having threads about slinkys and politicians. They seem to go together.

I just put a row of orange Legos under the hose. The funny thing is, the connection point is sunken down into the grass area with no way to keep the hose from touching the ground at that point. Don'tcha just love it?

I just searched for nearly an hour to find such a law in California. No success.

We have camped a lot of nights (1,500) in campgrounds all over the country including California. I have never heard of a law, rule, policy, or even suggestion that the sewer hose be elevated.

Now that people are finished using this thread to attack governments, maybe this makes sense. Some slinkies are quite flimsy and could develop small leaks. The connections are either glued (glue will eventually fail) or twisted on and not very water right. On the ground, you can't see leaks well, especially on some soils.

I can see a good reason for this (if true) to protect people and especially kids who are often on the ground. As it is, small leaks are almost impossible to prevent from the hose ends and from the RV sewer outlet.

I looked at some Cal. codes on RV's and found nothing about a statute or regulation on this. Some CG's have their rules posted—the kind they give you when you check in. Some are written by nasty people and none of those say anything about elevating hoses. If there were a reg. or law, they'd certainly cite it. We've traveled in Cal. a lot and I don't recall ever hearing of it. So, I doubt it is true.

Sewer solutions are way better than stinky slinky, for starters.
Altho if you need to make a fast dump the 3" gig works in a pinch.
anytime someone indicates to me there is a "law" about something, I politely ask them to show it to me in the law book. If they get $hitty about it I politely tell them to get someone with authority, a sidearm, a badge and a law book to make their appearance. Then I tell them to get away from me.
I don't believe much anyone says anymore.
some people just like to screw with law abiding citizens, I'm a Raylan Givins kind of guy myself.

Non-Believer.

Hi, I have only been in one camp ground where their rule is to keep the sewer hoses off of the ground. I believe it was Flintstones near Yosemite. It's mainly a camp ground for those with little kids, but it was the closest available at the time. If they say it's the law, ask for the code. This camp ground seemed to be all sharp rocks/gravel which may have had a history of destroying sewer hoses. If it was a California law, it would be known at all California camp grounds especially State owned camp grounds.

I got a citation from a City Inspector in Marin County, CA to prove it.

Slinky touching the ground

So,,, it seems as if it is a law....

How about instead of a ridiculous and stupid law requiring elevation of a sewer hose.....

A law that says a leaking sewer hose used in a campground is illegal? DUHHH

I will continue to mock stupid politicians and their stupid, stupid, stupid laws because they DESERVE to be mocked.

This kind of crap costs us time and money,,,, to "fix" a problem that is not a problem 99.999% of the time..... And even in the rare, rare, rare instance that it might be a problem,,, some poo might get on the dirt!

What a freaking NIGHTMARE!

Lol

There is a law going into effect in CA on 1/1/15 requiring ranchers to have diapers on all their cattle.

Studiously ignoring the political diatribes… So it appears that there is a city ordinance— at least— that requires sewer hoses to be elevated. I wonder what they would say about the hose from my macerator pump if I went there? It's not a slinky, and it's not constructed like a slinky. It's constructed like a garden hose.

Seems odd to be concerned whether the hose touched the ground when it seems half the dumpers I've observed don't even wear gloves!
