curbside patio awning

Dear reader,

I have a sovereign international from 1973 and would like to buy a used curbside patio and windows awning. Could you inform me where I could find one?

Regards,

Used ones are a bit hard to find and harder to ship. They are occassionally on ebay. RV dealers often have a bunch in their scrap pile but are reluctant to deal with them because of liability and they would rather sell you a new one. Do you have someone to intall it or DIY? Did you try a forums classfied want ad?

Joop,

You might find used window awnings--they are small and easy to ship. But a Zip-Dee like awning for a Sovereign is over 50 kilos and looooonnnnggg. Very costly to ship overseas.

Many members with short trailers like vintage awnings. You might consider that for your Sovereign. I used my 3m x 3m vintage awning on my Sovereign last summer and it worked fine (and didn't look too strange). The "vintage" awning slips into the awning rail by hand and is supported on the outer edge by tent poles and ropes down to tent stakes. They look better than a roller type awning, but take a few more minutes to put up and take down.

The good thing is that a vintage awning is about 1/4 the cost of a roller awning.

I got mine the same place that Insideout got hers (so bug her), but I never can remember the site. I think mine has better poles and maybe better tiedown ropes, but the Vintage Trailer Supply awning definitely has a better method of fitting the edge of the awning to the awning rail. Prices are very close.

Either supplier makes very pleasing awnings.
