Carter awning-keep or replace?
The last item on restoring the 72 land yacht is the awning. 2 yrs ago I took it off and stored it. I went to order new fabric and I was told that my Carter awning springs would probably break and I should think seriously about putting new fabric on them. They also said that Carter springs are not available. I took my springs out yesterday and the looked ok, not rusted. Anybody still uses Carter awnings? It is the consensus of this forum that the awnings go up and down daily so it might make sense to get new hardware but I trust my 72 airstream which means I trust old hardware. But I am not looking for any headache's.
