Any good paint shop. Ask for brightener.

Don't use it on riveted aluminum. The acid gets in between the sheets and around the rivets and doesn't wash out. I have read other threads here warning about this.

Well then.....EVERY...EVERY! riveted aircraft in the world is about to fall apart. The required standard to paint a riveted airplane is to prep it with acid (brightener) before paint. All trucks with aluminum bodies are acid washed. Airstreams too.....

Yup, the acid scare mongering is just that. Once it's done it's job it's not acid anymore. As I understand it….

I thought this was going to be a warning about the brown acid…

I use it in my shop. After rinsing well, I mix up a solution of baking soda and water and apply that. I then rinse that really well. If I don't, it leaves white spots all over the place.

Brown Acid - you mean "Alodyne" as in how you prep an Aluminum aircrafts skin so the primer will adhere before polypain?

I was just repeating what I had read here. I assumed it was good information. I just didn't want anyone to wreck their trailer. If the info is wrong I am sorry I repeated it.

I checked with three local paint stores and no one had it. There is a freightliner down by Delta park I will give them a try. If not (Thanks for the Amazon link ) I'll order it online.

This is the surface prep I have been talking about. It is a specific prep acid to prep the aluminum for painting. I have also heard it called a conversion coating. It can also be called Alodine. Some of this stuff is very toxic. Now just using run of the mill acid on aluminum is not good.
