Traveling Tool Box

Greetings All,
Prepping for our first major trip in our new AS (FC 27). Looking for some advice on what essential tools, etc., I should include on my packing list.
We're leaving SC and heading to northern Michigan (UP) for about a month.
I'm all ears - thank you.

Yep. I went through this very process. What tools to bring on an Airstream trip? Was like a Boy Scout my first trip out and fully prepared for everything; and so brought 125 lbs of tools. Was very excessive and never needed most of those tools. After 5 trips now, i am down to just 25lbs of tools + 1 duct tape + 1 plumbers tape + 1 electrical tape + assortment of hitch pins. Even my 12V tire inflator was never used....despite carrying it around during all these trips.

Only tool I’ve used so far is my cordless 1/2” Impact Wrench & Socket to change a flat tire on the trailer. (All the impact tools I carry use the same battery). I also carry a few spare impact sockets (for truck & trailer) as well as a few spare parts for the truck (to include fuel & oil filters) and the tools to change them.

After spending a week in Mackinaw City last summer (2017) and a week this past May (2018) the most important thing to pack in toolbox is some 100% deet bug spray! Apply liberal amounts especially after sundown when enjoying a sit around the campfire. Really, had a great time and would go back again. Make sure you get a "Pasty" for lunch or dinner one day. Safe travels. The Michigan State Bird is the mosquito.

1/2" breaker bar with sockets for lug nuts and hitch.
Cordless drill with a 3/4" attachment for the stabilizer jacks.
A few common screwdrivers, a set of 3/8" drive sockets and ratchet.
A pair of Vice Grips, and a pair of Channel Locks, maybe a small crescent wrench.
I keep all this in a canvas tool bag from HF. (Breaker bar is under the back seat.)
Some small LED flashlights.
Assorted pieces of lumber for the wheels or jack.

I would add some fuses and invest in an small air compressor, we picked up a Viar compressor. Also some hitch lube to keep whatever setup you have well greased and silicon spray to rub around the window seals which tend to stick and get hard to open in the summer.
