Storage compartment lock for 1996 34' Excella

I need to replace both locks on the rear storage compartment of our 96 34' Excella. The casting is fine, I just need the lock cylinder. The old part number from Airstream is 380770, and that was for the casting AND the lock. Neither of these parts is available from Airstream, and there seems to be no replacement, at least not from Airstream.

The problem is where the "Z" shaped bracket is held onto the cylinder body, there is threaded hole for the screw that connects the latch bracket, and the threads are stripped where the screw is supposed to hold everything together.

Any ideas as to where a replacement can be found will be appreciated....

Thanks

Larry C

I had the same thing on my 97. You can tap the hole with metric size tap and maybe make that work.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm doing, (after I found a "bottoming" tap). I went 1 size larger to a 10/32. It was still a little sloppy, thanks to the cheap pot metal the lock is made from, so so deal with that, I mixed up some "JD Weld", and filled the new threads with that, so I'll know tomorrow morning if it works.

In the meantime, I saw that "Silver Trailer Airstream" from Salt Lake City, had the lock, and the aluminum casting, for $98.00 each.....The representative was very rude, and sarcastic, I doubt very much if I'll be buying anything from them soon..

Hard to believe there is no more of that lock cylinder anywhere to be found.

Thanks for your suggestion...
