Hi guys, we took our
1965 Tradewind across a pass in the Rockies this week. Unexpectedly the road became unpaved with some huge potholes. By the time I pulled into our side I noticed some pretty significant undercarriage and interior compartment damage in the back. It looks like one of the larger potholes really did a number on it and the entire bottom pan almost fell out, black water tank and all. Even the battery which was sitting on top of it busted its(rusty) metal railings and dropped down.
Because this is a new reno project I am not totally gutted - I had to get in there for a number of reasons - water heater needs replacing, I'm planning on getting a tank less one, the inverter is old and needs replacing, the plumbing has several leaks and needs a complete overhaul, the wood floor over the rear pan was mostly rotted and the box itself rusted. So this may be the chance to do it all at once
Have any of you had this happen? Any tips, tricks on how to a) secure it for the way home, and b) go about a repair for that?
This is my first Airstream so any pointers would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks so much!
