Propane detector install question

I'm about to install my propane detector and had a quick wiring question. Can I get power from splitting into my water heater wires or do I need to have a dedicated wire straight from my fuse box, thanks.

Ours came wired to a constant fused 12v supply. I switched it to remove the draw during storage.
