Progressive insurance was great

Hired wrong company to wash my Globetrotter and guy climbed over rear caps and dented. Progressive cut me a check right away and followed up every step of the way (Jamie was so nice and concerned it would be fixed right). South Bay Area dealer replaced it and looks great. Never had such great response from an insurance claim.

Thank you for the information. I have been trying to figure who to insure our new trailer with for the past three days. This seals the deal!

Better yet

Thought I needed two panels replaced so Progressive quote and check was for that, minus $750 deductible. They stayed in touch with the dealer to revise quote to cover more. Turns out only one panel and Progressive said total cost needed up less than the check I received and to keep the difference. So, no deductible and had money left over for me. Couldn’t believe it

Glad you got treated well, but we gave up on Progressive because they substantially raised our rates for not having any debt and only having one credit card, though we had two.

It’s an upside-down world. We have zero debt. House paid for. No car loans. Pay the credit cards when the balances reach X.

But a credit rating lower than my son’s. So, I took out a loan on the F-150 and paid it off within three months. I let my credit card balance run until due date then paid only the statement balance. Etc. Credit rating climbed.

I think credit like weightlifting. You get stronger the more you do it.

Our experience with progressive was very positive during our repair incident a year ago. They were very responsive and the local appraiser knows Airstreams. When the repair shop found something that raised the repair cost, Progressive notified me and sent a check to cover. I'm very happy. - Brad

We had an accident several years ago that totaled our Prevost RV. Progressive was wonderful to deal with and did everything we could ask for and promptly paid off once it was clear that the RV couldn't be repaired. We were so happy with the people we dealt with that we sent them a gift basket!

We have had two incident which needed repairs. We have progressive insurance and have been extremely satisfied with their response and service. Based on our experiences, I would highly recommend Progressive.

Glad to hear people have had good experiences with Progressive. How they calculate rates is a different question. When I told them we had two, not one general (different from store cards) credit card, they didn't care. I talked to someone who didn't care or had no authority and couldn't get any further. When it comes to premiums, they have to pay for all those commercials. I find it best to look for companies that don't buy tons of commercials because I'm paying for them. I believe we had Progressive when my wife backed into a friend's SUV and we and her had no problems with the claims procedure. Insurance rates are all over the place and now we have a wonderful independent agent who looks for the best deals for us. Because we have a forest on our land, homeowner's rates are high and some companies won't cover us, but he switched us from Travelers to Safeco and saved us almost $600 annually for home, truck, SUV and trailer. But companies change what they will do all the time and beforehand, Safeco wasn't available where we live.

Some states have lists of premiums for insurance sold in the state. I know Colorado did do that and assume it still does. That gives a place to start looking. Some companies only sell through agents they contract with, so if you go to an independent agent you may not get a quote for some companies. Internet companies like Geico have good rates for some insurance, but not for others—they undervalued our house by about 60% of real value, so I went elsewhere though their auto and trailer rates were very good.

Rates change as often as prices on Amazon. Before computers and the internet, rates were in big books and the agent would look them up. They didn't change that often. Companies did not check your credit—now they charge the most to the worst off. Now I get a quote from my agent when he sends me the exact quote he got from the insurer. By the time I get to his office a few days later, it has changed. Or he negotiates with the company (yes, that is possible) and the quote he gets a few days later ignores that, so he has to call them again and work it out and then wait for a while for the quote to restore the better numbers. They system is obviously out of control as computers take over with bad software. Our last visit took an hour and a half when it all could have been done in 20 for 30 minutes. Insurers have steadily reduced commissions to agents and you either have to work 50-60 hours or more per week to have a middle class life. Underpaid agents will often do an underpaid job, so you have to find the good ones who are willing to work evenings and weekends. I keep telling our agent to not work so hard (except for us) so he lives a long and happy life. Now in his mid-50's he tells me he should have done something else in life, but it is too late to start over.

Insurance is full of obscure rules and quotes, some companies are good with claims and some are not, and they all look for ways to nickel and dime you. When we bought Travelers several years back I asked for a copy of the policy and the company told our agent we couldn't see it until we bought the policy. At the time it was the best we could do, so we went along with it.

When we took out a panel on our trailer, Progressive was wonderful to deal with, and took care of their $3000 part of the cost with no issues. Of course, then they jacked up our rates by $1000/year. When I asked how long that would be raised, they said "3 years". At least paying $3k over three years is less painful than all at once.

Progressive are AMAZING!

Got into a tornado in Texas in April with a brand new 2021 27F Globetrotter. Hail the size of golf balls.

Progressive liaised with Jackson Center to ensure it would be done there, $46k job to replace the entire front and back of the roof. We decided not to replace the flat white roof as Progressive offered a cash check for leaving it as it can’t be seen, but I can still have it done in the future whenever I want.

Car same thing, $20k job and all I had to do was to submit a video from the phone app.

That means you had no insurance, but they lent you the $3K at no interest, or did they collect the "loan" previously and were making interest on your premiums and then charge you for the repair?

I rolled an almost new 23' Flying Cloud in 2010. Progressive followed up immediately, as I was on the road they helped me find a tow guy and a place I could put the totaled trailer. Once they inspected it and called it a total loss they asked whether I wanted a check or a new trailer. New trailer of course. They asked where I wanted to pick it up, bought it for me, and I picked it up and continued my journey...shaking hands and knees and all. I never let anyone else drive again!

Progressive was great! I had 28K hail damage they were fast and the adjuster was very detailed. Fixed damage and my rates actually stayed the same. Great coompany to work with

I hesitate to ask, but as we're on the subject of insurance, does anyone have experience with Geico they would like to share? I have Geico, and have never needed to use it, so I have no point of reference.
