Compartment Door Gasket

Hey all. My wife and I are in the process of renovating our '88 34' Limited. I have four exterior compartment doors that need gaskets. I have found gaskets that will work for the interior portion. I'm wondering if the compartment door itself is supposed to have a gasket in between the two halves.

Picture is attached.

Thanks!!!

Had the same question when I replaced my serenity tool storage door. No gasket for that space. The gasket goes around the flange in the compartment and the door presses up against it.

Cheers

No gasket in the groove on the door of mine either - just on the opening itself.

I use Indoor Weather Stripping,Self Adhesive Foam Window Seal Strip for Doors and Windows Weatherstrip Gap Blocker. Using the double seal is wide enough to cover the entire edge of the door and results in a tight seal. Has lasted years.

This is the seal I used on my compartments. It mounts to the trailer opening, with nothing on the door itself.

Having a problem with the gasket that keeps falling off
Did you use any type of glue to hold it in place?
This would be the front storage door on my 27fb

3M 1300-L adhesive is really good stuff. Paint it on both gasket and surface wherer you want the gasket…let it dry… reactivate it with MEK and then stick the gasket.
It’s what we use on aircraft door seals and it withstands weather, pressurization, wind, rain, …. cleans up with MEK.

So if the gasket has the tape stuff over double stick, do you apply the glue to the “backing” paper on the gasket or do you remove the tape then glue. I’ve heard varying responses. Thanks!
