First of all it's a CO (Carbon Monoxide) detector.
If it has a battery that's rechargeable and fixed in place, it's probably there only as a "backup" in the event of power failure. The unit is probably hardwired to the
12V system and isn't receiving the power it needs so the "backup" battery has been depleted. I'd check all fuses and circuit breakers to be sure there is power to the unit.
That said, the life expectancy is 5 to 7 years from date of manufacture of the detector so it may be time to replace the CO detector anyways.
