I have just got into this airstream stuff, so I need a little help.
I have relized that my Airstream has Vacume Breaks, so my question is this. Should I switch this over to Elic. or leave the breaks vacume. And if I leave them vacume is it hard to set my pickup up for this opration. Also maybe some one can give me some advice on how and where to run the vacume line, from off my pickup.
Disc brakes have many advantages over other braking methods. A vacuum source is very simple. The tow vehicle will need to be plumbed from the engine to the Airstream with a line dedicated to providinf vacuum to trailer.....
OR an 12volt electric vacuum pump can be sourced at many auto/trucl salvage yards. All vehicles with a turbo require a vacuum source for power brakes and heat/airconditioning systems. The electric pump are about $45. The vacuum pump maybe located under and near the front of an Airstream trailer. Power for pump maybe supplied by 12volt power from tow vehicle that supplies power to charge trailer batteries. Vacuum pump uses very low power.
Of course there is a change over master cylinder that is a 12volt electric motor.
