brake shoe retainer springs and pins..
Doing some maintenance on my 05 25' FB, wheel bearings I decided to pull off one set of brake shoes to clean them. Only to discover it was very difficult to get the retainer springs and spring cap reinstalled backover the brakeshoes. Because ... either the springs seem too long for the pin or the pin was too short. Done alot of brake maintenance over the years and never had shoe retainer springs this tight, difficult to get back on. Being a retired Coast Guard chief engineer, I normally find this kind of work very simple, however... it appears in this case either the spring is too long or the pin is too short for this application. Because this model is fairly new, there probably little experience out in the field for someone to give me feedback on this issue. I have done alittle more investigating and have discovered a shorter spring available, I have not tried it yet, and have also since bought a special tool for installing and removing these springs. The bottom line.... with all my experience something is not right... despite it was assembled at the factory. If anyone does know something that I don't please let me know.. If you go to do yours, just be prepared..
