Tires

We have just bought a 2017 int serenity 27 FBQ. It has Good Year Marathons on it. Original factory tires. Does anyone have a recommendation for tire make and size. I have read that Marathons are junk. Thanks. VK Seattle

Welcome Aboard👍

We used the GYM's,(3sets), for 15 Seasons before the last upgrade to the GYE's.👍

Goodyear Endurance is the way to go. I would replace them now; had a blowout on GYMs on my 2004 Safari 25'...did a lot of damage. Also, suggest TPMS as a good safety backup to whatever tires you end up with.

Replaced GYM with GYE last week

I also have a 2017 that came with GY Marathons. Last week, after lots of research I replaced with GY Endurance.

I removed 2 tires at a time and took them to the tire shop. Nice practice on changing tires.

I did not upgrade to metal clamp on valve stems, but did ensure that they used high pressure push through valve stems. Still debating what tire pressure to use. I used 65 psi with the GYM and it rode well. I am thinking I will use the same for the GYE versus the max pressure of 80.

Here is a link to an interesting youtube that may provide some tips if you change them your self.

I am on my second set of GT Radial Maxmiler ST tires. I replace them after 5 years and over 30 thousand kilometers because of age. My buddy bought them and has put another 15 thousand kilometers on them. Talked to him yesterday and he is going to replace them because the tread is starting to get low because of uneaven wear due to bad balance. I always make sure the tires are balanced and also use a TPMS. I know others that have had very good service out of the GT Radial tires on trailers and trucks.

I ran 65psi, per the Goodyear specs for load on our 6 ENDURANCE tires. I had a little more side flex until temp and pressure rise. I will be heading out soon (shhh don’t tell the Kovid Kops.. ;$. And have raised to 70psi as my good brother Bob has done.

Took some ferret work but found this GY corporate site on their RV tires.. can’t say how long the link will work...

Another vote for GY Endurance.
A word of caution, most tire stores don't know how to jack up an Airstream and their first and second ideas will be wrong. Show them or take your wheels off and take the rims to them.

Ditto GYE and Ditto esp. re: jacking the Airstream.

I went with BFG Commercial.

Much stronger tire design.

Rated for higher than 55mph

Resists scrubbing

Affordable too.

Your receipt doesn’t show balancing. Did you have that done?

We have switched to GYE running 65 psi on our 25 FB Classic. We are happy campers. Metal valve stems from Discount Tires with TST tire monitors. Live in Phoenix and have seen 105 temp 72 psi running 65 mph. Outside temp near 111.

Unhappy 7.5-15 to endurance 225/75/r15

So I wanted to get new tires for our 72 land yacht and old tires were 7.00 -15 Trailmasters. After reading on line several people said that the 225/75/15
were the tire for replacement size. Since the rims are deep recessed and almost 7" wide. I got the tires mounted on the rims and went to install them, But they will not fit up under the skirting and clear the brake drums. Also seem to be too wide and will rub on the inner lip ledge behind the wheel. I read that the good year endurance were the tires to get, But no info for the older trailer space for install or clearance. Any help and advice from anyone else been down this road?

A 225 75 15 tire is almost 9 inches wide. I used them when I had a 75 and they fit well, but I had new axles on the trailer. The problem could be your axles are worn and sitting too high in the wheel well.

1964 Bambi II replacement tires

I was just gifted a 1964 Bambi II that was damaged by three different Hurricanes, but it has repairable damage, I have switch the title and already bought a permanent license plate. It had the original P205/75B14 tires, I mounted and tried to install some P205/75R14. They will not slide through the wheel well. I need to move it as soon as possible. What tire do I need. I am not looking to spend a lot of money because I am planning a long restoration, where as it will sit for a number of years.

Did you try deflating the tires to get them into the wheel well?
