Metal Valve Stem Installation
To say I am super disappointed with Good Year tire service is an understatement. I have been trying for two months to get my local Good Year tire service center for installation of metal valve stems. From forgetting about me coming in, no remembering what they told me and continuing not to want to allow me in the back side of their shop (outside) while they would install the stems, it's all been a dead end. I don't want to waste any more time on them.
If you have had metal valve stems installed on your rims/tires, please let me know who you used if you received good service and follow through. I know a lot of folks have been happy with Discount Tires.

I’ve had metal valve stems installed twice in the Denver metro area. The first time I used a mobile tire service. They were fast, courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. Here’s their link:
https://johnestirex-change.com/
John met me at my trailer storage facility and did the work onsite, including jacking up the trailer, removing and reinstalling the wheels.
The second time, I brought the wheels up to my local Big O Tires store in Evergreen. They did it while I waited, without an appointment.
There’s a local retailer in Denver that sells Dill 902-W metal valve stems. I don’t recall the name, but I got their contact information from the Dill website.

I had a local independent tire shop install mine when I replaced my GYE tires. No issues.

I had a good experience with Les Schwab in Northern CA. I took in a print out of the correct Dill stem. They had them in stock. I took in two wheels/tires at a time to install the stems and rebalance. For the second two, installer told me I would not need to wait, just bring them directly to him.

I took my four wheels to Les Schwab for metal stems. They did it while I waited. They were not going to charge me until I told them that I wanted the wheels balanced too. They charged me for balancing only. Great service!

I installed mine myself using a Harbor Freight manual tire changer to break the bead. Later, I did it again when I put TPMS stems in.

+1 on Discount Tire
Our local Discount Tire ordered the Dill stems and installed them in their driveway. I made sure they used the “Jack Here” diamond. They installed the new Dill stems and rebalanced the wheels with my TST Cap Sensors installed. Two guys got it done in under an hour.
After that experience I went back for Agilis CrossClimates on the truck and my wife’s Tiguan. By the way, they will fix flats for free too.

I work at Oreilly part time. Bought them there (with employee discount) and took them in with the tires and said "here you go". They saved a buck in parts and could say they put in what customer brought. I spent maybe 3 bucks more than using their parts. They balanced the tires with my parts so all good.
Winner all around.

Great ideas from everyone! Thanks very much! I am going to explore these options. I like the idea of a mobile service coming to me.

I got a nonrepairable tire puncture on my last trip home. I bought two Goodyears from Discount Tire and told them I wanted metal valve stems. They had them in stock. I told them I wanted to buy two more for when I replace the other two tires. I looked at my bill later and only then realized they just charged me the regular installation fee for two tires and nothing extra for the valve stems. Discount Tire has won a loyal customer.

I had Costco do ours. I did purchase tires from them though, not sure if it made a difference. I brought the wheels to them to make sure they didn't jack it up in the wrong place.

I live in Phoenix. The home of Discount Tire.
And would recommend Discount Tire like many others above.
Within reason, they will do most anything tire related I want to have done.

DISCOUNT TIRE! When a Goodyear Dealer refused to simply add AIR to their Goodyear tire that was leaking so I could get another mile down the road… because it was 5 mins to closing and didn’t want to bother with simply pulling out a hose and airing it up….. he stoopidly referred me to a Discount Tire about a half mile away (as he pulled-down his garage roller-doors)….I hurriedly drove to Discount Tire before it went completely FLAT…….WHO FIXED THE FLAT AND reinstalled the tire WITHOUT CHARGE.
I am now a DISCOUNT TIRE customer FOREVER.

They're the source for the Dill 902-W stems that our aluminum rims need. They're also the best, cleanest, most courteous tire store I've ever used. I have to drive 40 miles to get to one and I do.
However, I installed the metal stems myself. It's not hard, although you need a bead breaker and an air supply.
I probably wouldn't do it again, because it's a dirty job and a tire store (You trust) can do it in 1/10th the time. I'd recommend taking the tires off and avoiding all the "where to jack" worry. (although Discount Tire listened to me and jacked where I told them.)
If you have jack stands you can take two tires off at a time and drive away with them in your TV.
Here's my post after doing it.

I bought stems at O'REILLY and took them to Sam's and had all 5 put in with new Michelin tires. Worked for me, but I did remove and take the tires to them.

I decided to convert my trailer (not an AS) to six lug wheels as I wanted new ones anyhow. I bought an installed new six lug hubs that were proper for my 3500lb axles. I bought Sendel T03 wheels (after reading that AS supplied Sendel as an option, and doing research, I concluded they were a better quality than other makes) anyhow, I set about finding VS-902-W stems and Discount tire was no help at all, none, nata, so I finally called Dill and they gave me the name and number for about three different distributors I could get them from. I ended up calling Mohawk Rubber Sales in Boston and he didn't have any, so I asked about VS-902-WP which is the same stem with a "fill thru" cap instead of a regular cap. He had hundreds of them. I bought six from them over the phone. A rather large, heavy box arrived that had the stems and Mohawk's complete catalog which is huge. I installed the stems myself, and then took the new wheels, along with the wheels/tires off the trailer (nearly new GY ENDURANCE) and had them swap the tires to the new rims and balance them. I modified my rear bumper spare mount slightly to accept the six lug alloy rim and hold it tight without damaging or scarring it.
My travel buddy wanted metal stems and I suggested some that looked like a Dill VS-240MC stem for internal TPMS.
He ended up with a similar looking stem of another brand, also rated at 200 psi.
I actually like this stem better than the 902-W because the diameter of the stem and seal on the inside of the rim is smaller.
An alternative is the Dill TP416 as it has a washer for the screw on outer "nut" to seat on so the rim is not scarred up at the bottom of the recess for the stem.
See my attachment for what the inside of a 902-W looks like installed with its larger diameter.
I also installed Centramatic balancers based on recommendations on this forum. My irritation is that Centramatic does not have installation drawings with accurate dimensions. I ended up calling a seller of them and they pulled a set from stock to give me the dimensions. There is a larger diameter six lug version I think I could have used. The ones I have barely clear the back of the rim by an 1/8 inch or so. (bead tubes to wheel spokes).
I have since removed the fill thru caps (very handy) and installed a Lippert Tire Linc TPMS system. I like the system, but the app sucks, bad. Jury is out as I have not towed with it yet.

Looks like I will be making a trip down to Discount Tires today, based on all the good recommendations. The Good Year Manager continues to complain that they don't have experience with trailers, would need to bring in extra employees etc....just not getting a good feeling from them.
I will also call the mobile company that was recommended.
Thanks guys for all the great information!

If someone does not want to perform a service that I am going to pay for, I generally more to a person/company that does want to perform said service.
With that said I have had employees in the work bay at a Discount Store not fully understand th service to be done. Or other things.
I have air suspension on my TV. Tech didn;t understand how to turn it off or back on.
Or leave off valve stem caps. Or put rubber caps on a metal stem.
Mostly details.
And I have never had any pushback from any Discount employee on corrections. They always have a good attitude and are willing to learn or make the situation right.
