Axle talk about design
I ordered axels for my 25’ safari from Colin. It has taken just under 2 months to get them. His shop has been good about keeping me up to date on when they would be delivered. Unfortunately I wasn’t home when they were delivered.
It looks like at some point the shipper stacked something on top of my axels. They have a slight bend in them. It’s the weekend so I can’t get Colin on the phone so I thought I would ask you people your thoughts on how bent is too bent.
It looks like the tube has a 1/2” bow in it to the flat spot. When I put a level on the hub it is about 1 or 1.5* from 90. IE the top of the tire is out farther than the bottom.

No. That is the way they are manufactured. I think the bow help insure the correct camber to the tires. See the bend in my axles in post 14, picture 1. https://www.airforums.com/forums/f43...ic-215364.html

I got it on the trailer over 2 days. I work slowly! I had to notch the Axel at the rear bolt as the slot cut is off by about 3/8” from how the old Axel was. Also I had to remove and put back propane line that ran to the water heater. The job isn’t that hard. I used a furniture dolly to slide the Axel under the trailer and 2 jacks to lift it in place.
I changed the angle of the Axel to set the trailer a bit higher. Colin knows what to order if you want to do that. Here is what it looks like.
