Is it a 67 Sovereign or not/black water tank woes

I bought a very used 67 Sovereing to restore for my wife. There is no title and club records on its Club ID # shows 67. Restoration work done before seems to have put two different end bath units to gether. the colors are light green and teal blue. 1. Is this normal in the old units? I can not find an old 30' rear bath to compare it to. 2.The toilet exit hole does not come close to matching up to any 66-69 sewer tanks (Black tank today) I have come across. This is fixable with a plug and new hole cut but nobody will spin weld a new fitting for me in the area. Can you glue a new fitting inplace? Thanks for any help!

You should be able to determine exactly what you have by decoding the VIN. A good resource can be found at vintageairstream.com, where they have a picture archive of various years. You might find interior pictures of your type of trailer there and see what was typical of the time.

It is not unusual for previous owners to frankenstein all sorts of stuff together, though so you might be squarely in the realm of customization to repair their fixes.

If your black tank is made of HDPE, then I would say you will have very little chance of glueing anything to it and having it stick for the long haul.

Good luck!

Hi There,

If you search the archives, you'll find the answers to all your questions with text and illustrations.

Without affirming the year, and including photos, you'll illicit little help.

If you have a 1967, only a 1967 or 1968 black tank will work as a direct replacement, they are interchangeable, but not identical. 1966 or 1969 tank has ZERO similarity to '67/'68.

The plastics in 1967 and 1968 rear baths, in all length trailers, except caravel, have many interchangeable parts. They may have been offered in blue, green, pink, beige, or yellow. It's hard to say, but the best clue to color theme is kitchen appliance and counter-top color.

In my all original 1968 bath, I have four colors, which are dependent on the state of fade and oxidation of the different plastics; Fiberglass, Melamine, PVC, ABS...

Again, Pictures of what you have encountered, and are trying to solve, would help forum members assist you to a greater degree. Someone can answer you with great specificity, if you know what you have, or show pictures.

If it's a 1967, its is a great year to restore.
