Magic Chef Stove Top Cover Restoration
I'm looking for some interesting ways to restore my Magic Chef Stove Top Cover. Right now it is in a scratched and rusted condition. Can it be cleaned and polished or covered with paint or just replaced?

What was it originally? brushed stainless, porcelain or painted? Powder coat is great stuff and looks decent, lots of colors to choose from too.

Originally it is brushed stainless, but like I said, "It is scratched and rusted." Powder coat is a good idea. Thank you.

I took a sander and steel wool to mine and then waxed it and it has held up very well for the last year. I plan on removing it and getting it plated with chrome one of these days, but thats down the list

I sprayed mine with WD 40 and then hit it with 0000 steel wool. It cleaned up very nice.

Had mine powder coated in their *chrome-like* finish. The results were so-so, with puddling of the metalic fibers where there had been some significant surface pitting. The owner of the shop said he would have never suggested the metalic/chrome because it is so difficult to get a good, smooth and even coating unless the original surface is super smooth. I got the job for free and I am tickled silver.... not perfect, but still pretty sweet.
It has scratched some but I am HARD on it and need to be more mindfull...
