Fast and furious
Progress is fast and furious (emphasis on furious!) as we get ready for THE big road trip that starts in less then two weeks!
The countertop pattern was a matter of hot debate at our house. We were very close to going with the boomerangs too, but this one won us over aided by the lobbying of our daughter.
Here are a few more pics. Some vintage melamine to mix in with our other dishes...they were a great find at a local antique store.
The counter is in place on the other side of the trailer, and here's a quick glimpse of the new bling sink.

Dreamy pull-out
The whole thing is coming together now, but my favorite part has to be the amazing pull-out cabinet next to the friddge. It fits into the space where the previous cabinet was, but makes great use of the space over the wheel well. I can't wait to load it up!

Your project looks soooooo awesome! I love the dinette and counters! I bought the gray boomerang, but didn't use it because it was too much with all the other patterns in my trailer. That's OK though, I'll just buy another trailer to use it in!!! I love the pattern you chose! (3 trailers???, hmm)
I want to see pics of your cushions!!!

Severe multi-tasking
Don't even get me started thinking about another trailer! Yikes....that would be way too much fun (and work) for a mere mortal.
I don't have pics of the upholstery in the dinette area yet. I can't load the trailer until after the woodworking is done and after I've become a cleaning tornado. The end result of not being able to load is a severe amount of multi-tasking as evidenced by the piles growing around my house. Here is a photo of the kitchen equipment pile. I have been accused of the Lucy Syndrome (in The Long Long Trailer).
Here is a snap of the upholstered cushions so that you can see the color and pattern. The back cushions are patterned and the bottom cushions are the plain dark taupe. They are part of another 'cushions and linens' pile.

Oh I loooove it! And you're a melmac fan!! We might be twins, separated at birth... I'm having trouble finding enough room in my trailer for all the retro goodies I bought while re-doing the insides. I still can't pass up a super-cool thing, though there is NO space for anything else. [Hence the need for trailer #2.]
Hey are you going to the Beverly Beach rally??

Thanks for the reminder Tanya. We will definitely attend Beverly Beach! It should be lots of fun, our first Airstream event ever!
Here's another photo from my husband's huge amount of work today...tomorrow will bring drawers and cabinet fronts. The excitement is building around here...

A huge day for airstreamfans
Well, as promised it was a huge day around here. My husband is a superhero and...The cabinets are done!
Here is a peek in the door toward the dinette and another view straight in to the completed kitchen cabinet. Note the cool hinges...and take a look at yet another dreamy pullout under the sink.
I know, I know, I am pinching myself. A nifty pullout and two drawers besides! Maybe all my kitchen gear will fit!

Aiii ca-rumba he does nice work. A very clean and practical arrangement. Once the flooring is in and cushion and window coverings it's going to look incredible.

Well...maybe Tampa given that you are my sister and all
We finished laying the carpet at 9pm tonight. Sorry but we were too exhausted for pictures. Boy has this become all encompassing!
I will take some beauty shots tomorrow before hitting the road. I can't believe how amazing it looks. Now it is time to see the country!
We are ready with the iPod road trip mix. We've even down loaded Johnny Horton! My sis will remember it on 8-track: "we ran through the briars and we ran through the brambles and we ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go..."

Whew! Here are the front dinette shots I promised...sorry for the blurry low light shots, but it was still a bit early here when I took them.
We head our for our roadtrip in just an hour. Hope to see you on the road!

And the back views...
And here is the views of the cabinets and back gaucho. We are using a hinged matress from IKEA with it's green IKEA cover that you can get with it. It is a little big, but it will be nice to have that innerspring matress after a couple of weeks of travel.
Thanks to EVERYONE on the forums for all your help and support. I will post pictures from the road as I can.

We're back after six big weeks on the road!
Wow! What a trip. This whole airstream thing was a huge success and loads of fun!
We arrived back yesterday from six weeks of national park touring:
Crater Lake
Lassen
Yosemite
Zion
Grand Canyon
Bryce Canyon
Arches
Teton
Yellowstone
Glacier
Whew! The trailer was perfecto and was a wonderful way to travel. I liked it so much better than generic icky hotel rooms. This was one for the record books...I will post some pics and some campground reviews. It was amazing how few Airstreams we saw. Usually one more in the parks we were in...boy are there a lot of big 5th wheels out there
