Merlefest 2023

Any Airstreamers planning on going to Merlefest this Spring? We got lucky with getting an On Campus RV parking pass and looking forward to our first Merlefest experience.

if anyone has stayed on campus before, I would love to hear your insights and experiences.

We'll be there but not camping- I hear the after show picking in the parking lots is as good as the show itself. You should have a good time, but bring any quality spirits you might want to imbibe with you- slim pickin's in Wilkes County. Unless you like the local moonshine!

We were at Merlefest 2021 and camped on campus. It is boondocking and they don't allow generators after 11 PM. We took a Honda 2200 and charged our lithium batteries during the day and ran our AC during the night. You are in the NC mountains so the temps are not too high, so it is doable (you may be ok with fans running). They also don't allow any open flames, so we took electric air fryer and induction cooktop. They do have a dump station a couple of hundred yards from the campsites. Water is available from two spigots, so you have to tote your water or pull your trailer over to it to fill.

13 stages with great music, biggest problem is deciding which stage/band to go to. Sometimes two bands we wanted to hear were playing on different stages at the same time!

We planned to go this year, but we had an opportunity to go to Normandy, France that same week. We'll be back next year. You will have a fabulous time!
