That's good, right?
I say that because according to this conversion site, I just filled up my tank at US$4.40 a gallon.
I was pleased, since earlier this week, I paid US$4.62 per US gallon.

Yep, at less than 3 bucks a gallon here, they are STILL killing us.

Isn't it sad what we rejoice over as cheap fuel?
I remember $3 filling up the tank on my little Chevy Vega.

Our car is diesel and our truck is gas. Go figure.
How is diesel cost? Maybe I need to start driving the truck more.

When I was in college I drove a Honda 175 - would only exceed 55mph downhill with the wind at my back. Acceleration due to gravity over the edge of a cliff would get it going pretty good too.
Gas was 33 cents a gallon, and many service stations didn't lock the pump handles down at night, so you could literally drain a pint of gas from the hose of a stopped pump for ... well don't get caught. (There were no credit card operated pumps.)
A 3.5 gallon tank cost slightly over $1 to fill. But minimum wage was $1.25 so it took an hour's labor to get that tank legally filled. Diesel was $.22 cents a gallon, but only BIG trucks and a few Mercedes Benz' cars were diesel. It was (and is still) a less refined fuel. Why does it now cost SO much more than regular gas?
Oh if I could time travel and fill my tank in 1968 - and drive it in 2013. Of course I'd be scarfing up real silver dimes, quarters and silver dollars too.

where
I'm in central NJ, and no, it's not cheap, just the lowest in forever, We all know we pay far too much for a gallon of gas because of outside factors, just too many influences from our friends who dislike the internal combustion engine (hope thats non-political enough) that want it to go away. In time, like horse drawn carriages it will, hopefully not in my lifetime. BTW, I still get chills when I'm next to a steam engine pulling a train, a Diesel locomotive, by comparision, does not raise an eyebrow. Cheap fuel rules, for a moment! (relative) John

We recently moved from Tennessee to South Carolina. Gas taxes are lower in SC which means you can easily find 87 grade for $3.00. But the first annual cost of tags for my three vehicles & 02 Safari in SC was $1400 vs annual tag cost in TN of less than $250. I think SC calls it a personal property tax. I don't know how the tax is calculated. The tax on my 07 Mazda was lower than my 02 Safari. 2012 Chevy 2500 won the prize at close to $550 in tax for tags.
I would prefer to pay $3.30 for gas than to pay $1400 for tags... & sales tax, & income tax....

We were in SC a bit ago and saw a sign over a gas pump that said " if we don't know you please pay before you pump".

Waze
There's a cool little free social app called Waze that gives you up-to-date lowest gas prices locally across the country. Also current updates on road conditions, speed traps, etc. I'm just starting to check it out using an iPad - don't know if there's an Android version. A few cents a gallon adds up when your TV gets 10MPG.

I wonder, has anybody with a diesel looked into a bio-diesel conversion? There's a guy here in Toronto who's basically running his bus on the grease that the restaurants pay to have removed.
I've never done this myself, but I am seriously leaning towards a diesel for my next vehicle. Up here in Canada the economics make sense anyway, but with bio-diesel that might get even better...

Yes, there's an Android version - Waze is owned by google these days. Find it in the Play store.
I use it all the time, really excellent little app.
