Grand Manan Island - Hole in the Wall campgrounds

I was just wondering if anyone has been to this campground. I am thinking about taking a 2 week trip in June, and this is on my short list. The photos that I have seen are nothing short of spectacular, and the reviews on tripadvisor are across the board great. but... I value my fellow airstreamers' perspective.

Sounds great but an expensive ferry ride if you take a trailer. Can go to Newfoundland for about the same price.

Port Aux Basques from North Syney would be about 320 each way plus it is about 300 additional miles

We stayed at Hole in the wall june of last year and very much enjoyed it, incredibly beautiful location. The best spots do not have any hookups. We stayed at site D which has the one the best views. I have a 20' Safari and while out site was a bit tight I was able to maneuver the 20 footer there easily. This is one of the reasons I love the 20 footer.

There is NO fee for crossing to Grand Manan Island. Fees are charged on the return sailing to the mainland.

The ferry cost me a little over $100, rates are $8.20CAN a meter.

I would definitely go again and spend longer next time around.

Here are a few pics.

I am sure you will enjoy it!

Thanks for the information and the great pics. I didn't know that about the ferry. Any other must see spots in the area besides Acadia?

Yes, I would travel up the bold coast of Maine, and take a trip to the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia.
Cobscook State Park is beautiful
The lighthouse at West Quoddy Head is spectacular.
Campobello island is very nice with a couple of lighthouses also. Make sure to visit the East Quoddy Lighthouse on the island during low tide. One of the most beautiful lighthouses I have even seen.

Hope that helps.

I guess I need to go back to math class. Thanks for the corrections. Somehow I had come up with around $400 but it was clearly MY error.

ThanX
