Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Here is a little more info. I want to drop off the trailer at a remote property I own in northern New Mexico in the spring and pick up in the fall. It will be used for camping for a few days up to a month at a time.

Hi

At some point you have to play the odds and pay the insurance. For an "over the summer" way out in the mountains, I doubt there is all that high a risk. Put a lock on it. Go with the Dewalt even if there is no cell signal and hope they tow it into town.

Hmm, a tripwire and a can of bear spray comes to mind, but you may trigger it yourself!

Removing the wheels is the standard defense I think, but then you should invest in a power driver for the studs/nuts.

+1 for Proven Industries.

I also keep a Spot tracker in the trailer when not in use. Let's me know if it moves.

For me the question is defining what the danger might be. Are there teenage kids running around wild? Or people looking for something to steal and make money on? Might it get vandalized or actually stolen or broken into or used as housing/shelter? Or all of the above, maybe? Are there camps that get left unattended for long periods in the area? Is it a public land or frequently used by miscellaneous people?

There is always danger, and there are always thugs looking for opportunity in easy pickins. Trust in God but tie up your camel.

Worry less

Why don’t you find a decent used trailer to put on your property. One that isn’t your prized possession.

Use your AS for travel trips, that’s what it’s for.

Hi

In a lot of areas it is simply bored kids / folks with nothing much to do. Anything "interesting" attracts them. Let's see what's inside ....

Anyone with the proven industries lock changed the chain hooks to a lower profile version so they can tuck them up inside the lock?

Coupler Lock and security

Or just add a chain hook to the other end of the chain after sawing it off. Then just store the chains elsewhere.

The gold colored hooks came from Amazon. The silver ones are OEM.

Took an angle grinder with an abrasive wheel to carefully cut the chains off the a-frame loops. I have a sturdy bag to stash the chains in.
