Since we live in Phoenix, Gilbert and Mesa are so close, we don't camp there. However, we drove through a couple of RV resorts when we were shopping for our Airstream a few years back, and there are lots of nice places in Mesa and Apache Junction. These a popular destinations for "snow birds" and retirees. I don't recall many in Gilbert. One we drove through in Mesa (sorry, don't recall the name), was very nice, with huge swimming pool, general store, etc.. Also, lots of big trees.
You should make note that it may still be over 100 degrees in the Phoenix metro area in early to mid-October. It is usually starting to cool at night by Halloween, but the daytime temperatures can still be quite warm.
