Escaping mud season... Death Valley? March 19-27

It's been a crappy winter here in Jackson Hole, Wyo ... very little snow. Still, the lack of sunshine and warm temperatures puts us in a very cabin-fever-ey mode. The plan is to pick up Stella from All-Star Service Specialists in Idaho Falls, Idaho on March 18 and head southwest to some place warm where the toddler can learn to walk -- gasp -- outSIDE. Without mud.

Anybody have a favorite campground in the Death Valley area? Looks like Furnace Creek is full up.

Considerations: Occasionally impatient husband who likes "elbow room" from other campers, and 15-month-old toddler. Bringing bikes/baby trailer.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

OR we could just bust it all the way down to Phoenix to enjoy some Cactus League spring training games. Although that's a LOT of driving for a little person.
