Albany GA to Denver-Route suggestions?

Hello,
Looking for help in route suggestions from Albany GA to Denver.

Conditions:
-driving a car, no RV
-quickest and safest route; not a sightseeing kind of trip.
-traveling in August

We have friends making this drive and asking for help but I have never driven in GA, although I have heard to avoid Atlanta. Is GA highway 280 a good road to get to Birmingham and pick up the Interstates?

Any suggestions by someone that is familiar with this drive would be most appreciated. MapQuest is not a substitute for real experience.

Many thanks!

No responses, so I guess they will just follow the Nav app.

I do not have any practical knowledge in driving of that part of the country.

hopefully, this will work out for them.

It looks like there are a few potential routes on interstate highways. I can’t really see how one is any better than the other, but I haven’t made a drive from the southeast to Colorado for a while. I used to drive I-70 west through St. Louis and Kansas City every year. It was flat, straight, and boring, but it worked. I suspect the southern routes across the country would be much of the same. I think the key is to try to find out in advance if one of the routes has less road construction than the others, and to avoid major metropolitan areas during rush hour(s).

Driving Kansas City to Denver on i-70 is a super easy drive. Very good roads. Enough frequency in stops you can find anything you need. No a lot of merging traffic and it is a good day's drive.
St. Louis to Kansas City has a lot more traffic, more merging traffic, and is just more congested. You could do a long day and drive St. Louis to Denver in a day. But a better place to overnight would be Columbia MO. Right in the middle, college town so lots of hotels.

Thanks Dennis and Piggybank!

truly appreciate the response!! I was feeling a little neglected.....

Settled on Columbus, GA to Birmingham, to Memphis to Little Rock, to Tulsa,
to Wichita to Salina to Denver.

not a pleasure trip; just point A to B.

many thanks!

Wow...I would think google maps would answer all your questions. Be a freeway flyer.
