Silver Streak Drip Cap "Clips"

Hi "Vintage Kin",

We have a '57 Silver Streak Clipper, and it has little clips (see image) on the drip caps above the windows. Does anyone know what they are intended for?

Thanks, in advance!

WAG: (but I don't know)... could they have been something a PO put on to hold some kind of an external cloth shade over the window?
