Silver Streak Clipper, but what year?

Can I take this opportunity to say hello to all forum members and users.

I have just bought, in the UK, what was described as a 1947 Curtis Wright but is, I think, a slightly later Silver Streak Clipper. I am keen to find out what year it is, such that when I come to start restoring it I can be as faithful as possible (and appropriate!) to the original.

I'm entirely new to silver torpedoes, caravans/trailers, and indeed sheet metal work ... so it's going to be a challenge putting this back in good order. Any help with the identification would be very much appreciated.

I would say it is before 1950 due to the shape of the body and windows. I have seen this trailer offered for sale in the States originally, it has very unique safari style windows. Hope you are up for a challenge, for you are going to be learning some serious fabrication to make her whole again...

Thank you for the information. I've today acquired a little paperwork on what I am slowing learning to call the trailer (instead of the caravan!)

It was bought by its previous owner in Peru, Indiana. The Indiana Certificate of Title gives the year as 1954, but that will of course just be a reflection of what was said to its issuers. To my mind, it can't be earlier than 1949, as that's when Silver Streak was founded (if I have my facts right). Given your thoughts re. the windows, that would suggest that it's maybe 1949 or 1950. Further mystery.

Yes, it will be a heck of a challenge, but I'm looking forward to learning some new skills.
