Help identifying this trailer?

If this isn't the right forum, or if there is a FAQ on ID'ing trailers, please point me to it.

A friend has what she calls a "vintage" Airstream trailer. She wants help identifying it so she can sell it. I have posted pictures in the Member's Photos sections under "JackElliott" (I hope that's sufficient to find them, if not, let me know).

I was not able to find the photos. I don't think too many people use the Member's Photos feature anyway. Post them here. When you go to "reply" click "advanced" then "browse" and "upload pnotos" then "submit reply".

I went under Member Photos and you don't have any pictures. As Lumatic suggests, just post them here.

how about here?

Oh -- sorry. Okay, I had my choice of "quick reply" and "Post reply." I picked the latter, don't see any "Advanced" option here. There is a "Add Video" button below, but it only lets a fellow add a single file. So I'll try the "Insert Image" option here and see what I get. Nope, it wants a URL, no upload local file option that I can see. Hmm.

Okay, I'm going to put the images on a blog I have and maybe they can be found there. Try this: JACK AND MRS ELLIOTT IN BEND: What Airstream is this?

Lemme know if this works. Many thanks.

I copied this one from your blog. At least early 60s maybe 50s. Clipper? Somebody else should ID it.

Thanks -- my response with the link to my blog was held up in moderation, possibly due to the link. The blog link has a few more pics including the serial number plate.

MarkR: Yup, that seems like the trailer in question. Many thanks. She wrote that "I am told that the 13 "fans" at the end and front make it something different." I reckon she is talking about the aluminum strips that form the body. I don't know if this is an unusual feature for this model or not -- the photos on the Vintage Airstream Safari page you linked look about the same as the trailer she has, so probably not.

Anyway, it would be a kindness if I could give her an idea what the trailer might be worth. Of course, not knowing the mechanical and cosmetic condition of the trailer (I have not seen it and am not a judge of such things) maybe someone could pitch a price range?

13 panel end caps are normal. The younger the trailers are, the less the number of panels.

The only differences for the older ones are very very very seldom 15 panel and I think that was only on the Flying Cloud. The other type is the whale-tail and that is a totally different construction.

Try this link for Price vs. Condition. That's a good looking trailer!

Many, many thanks guys. I'm certain the owner will be satisfied that she now knows what she needs to know to sell it.

Anybody know any streamers in the area who might be able to do an inspection for these folks?

The trailer is located in Santa Fe, NM. If someone is willing to come by and check it out, we'll contact her and see if it's okay.

If the lady doesn't want visitors, it's possible the trailer can be relocated off her property where folk can look it over.

She's had it listed for sale before so it's entirely possible that a streamer has already looked at it?

I live about an hour from Santa Fe and could do it if my time and expenses could be covered. There are other members is Santa Fe. If she had it listed before I wonder why it didn't sell? It's a very desirable trailer.

Folk: I posted a simplified story of the trailer's ownership in order to keep the focus on the trailer. The lady with the trailer has donated it to a Santa Fe charity, and my wife's company handles the donations for that particular non-profit. My wife's company will be the one to do the selling, the proceeds will go to the charity. The trailer is scheduled to be moved off the donor's property to a location where it will be available for inspection. If anybody has an interest, they can contact my wife at jacquie AT centerforcardonations.com -- she may need help with moving it, inspection, and photography, and she would be willing to pay a fee for these services. Please write Jacquie at that email address.
