October 2012 Photo Contest
The temperatures are starting to drop here in Montana, and I'm eagerly eyeing my wooly hats and cable-knit sweaters that have sat dormant since...June (ha! But I do love Montana). Looking at them, I'm captivated by all the wonderful TEXTURES. So that's the inspiration for this month's contest. Your photos must include:
1) the sleek, shiny aluminum of an Airstream, juxtaposed with...
2) some distinctive contrasting texture(s).
That could mean a bed of fallen aspen leaves, a coarse, nubby AstroTurf welcome mat, the silky curls of your Portuguese water dog, whatever. Close-ups and interesting angles are strongly encouraged!!
So that's it. The theme itself is simple, but I hope to see some super creative, artistic shots. If the winner really hits a home run, I'm willing to pass on the Airstream belt buckle I made

Is this what you have in mind or am I missing the idea? Does the photo need to include an Airstream?

I'll play
Desert Texture and then a couple that are up close and personal...
Spring latch on inside of bumper storage and top of license plate light. The beauty of an aging airstream has texture...  (but not all is desireable) 
Sure hope ol' Sandlapper tosses a couple out here. Not fair to comment without pics I say!

Textures - Wood and Metal
Airstreams and airplanes share a rich developmental history involving wood and metal.
Vintage Airstreams utilized more wood; it was the same with airplanes. At one time wooden propellers orchestrated the sky and cut the clouds.
This photo is a textural juxtaposition of that shared history. Metal skin with a wooden propeller from a 1942 Avro Anson. The Anson was used primarily by the Royal Canadian Air Force/Royal Air Force as a wartime trainer.
One pilot penned this little poem about the Anson. You may do a double take - some of it sounds like an Airstream!
"Oh, the Crane may fly much faster
Inside she may be neat,
But to me the draughty Anson
Is very hard to beat.
Her plywood may be warping,
Her window glass may crack,
But when you start out in an Anson.
You know that you'll come back.”
