I just purchased an Airstream 1958 Flying Cloud.
The ex-owner told me that it used to belong to an Airbase in Northern part of Thailand. Probably own by some Airforce officer during Vietnam war.
Now it sit right in U-Tapao Naval Air Station near Pattaya, Thailand, waiting for Aluminum fablication works on some panels.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

Thailand Airstream

Never saw that one when I was there. I was at Sathahip in the Navy, visited Uthapow once out riding motorbike. Taught scubadiving in Pattaya for 2 years after leaving Navy. Be nice to have that parked under couple palm trees at the beach. Not coconut, but palm tree. Good luck with the rebuild. The Thai level of craftmanship is excellent. Lots of shop built jeeps running around there. Jim

Nice to see you comment Jim,
I'm an ex-Navy myself, also a scuba fleak until I have my baby.
An airstream is a very rare sight in Thailand. Only saw one, maybe a land yatch 60',
in a gas station in Bangkok.
So, that's why I jump into it without hesitation. I receive a lot of comment in this
forum that they all wish me luck. I understand it's implication that I will have to put
a lot of money and labour into it. Also alot of effort as most of the parts are in the States.
However, it's my long time passion. I will be patient, and when the time comes when I can sit back next to my beautiful Airstream on some tropical Thai beaches, I should be able to tell myself (and my wife) that my effort is more that worthwhile.
