2000 Safari Window Removal
Hello from Oklahoma, new to the forum and this is my first post. Just pulled home a 2000 Safari who had a rough life. I need to remove several, if not all the windows and on the surface it looks straight forward. I've removed the inside trim and the window screws then cut the caulk on the outside. The window still feels like it wants to stay? Is there another step I missed? I don't want to work it too hard if there is. Thanks for any help.

its sounds like you should have it. There may be still calk in there or just crud. run a putty knife around the outer seal too. I would suggest its a two man job one push and on pull slowly try and work it out of there.. Let me know how you do thanks.

Thanks to member tinbender I was able to remove the window, here was his advice "There is a band of sealant all way around the frame of the window, adhering it to the interior side of the skin. There may also be rubber strip that is holding it tight. However, I think if you work at it with thin tools, like a paint scraper and take your time you can do it. Will have to take it slow to avoid damage. Would tape off all around the window to protect the skin"
I was hopping it was just sealant holding it but I didn't want to force it if not.
Thanks,
breimer

Be careful with the rubber gaskets because they are no longer available.

Depends on which ones you need. Some of the same ones are still used today.

I was told by Airstream that the windows they used in 2000 were made by a company that went bankrupt years ago and they had very few if any of the gaskets (none of the larger gaskets).
It perturbed me enough that I sold my 2000 Safari account of it.
