Water Heater Question

I just picked up our "New to me" 2007 25' Safari FB. I cannot get the water heater to go, I turn the switch on in the bath room but it does not seem to light. I am sure it is something easy, I am just not familiar with this fancy new system. I had a 72 before this one. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you hear the ignitor clicking? Have you turned the gas on and let the system purge itself??.............someone on here will chime in for you I hope and help you solve your problem....might be some kind of gas shut off valve?? Pull out the manual and go through the steps listed. I'm sure it must be something simple. Good luck

Do your other gas appliances work? ...stove top, oven, furnace, frig (on gas)? If not make cure your gas is turned on. If the other appliances work, then you have narrowed it to the water heater itself.

I'm pretty sure your water heater would be like ours (in an '06 19')...the red light at the turn-on switch should come on when you flip the switch on...it should ignite (which you can most likely hear) and then the red light should go off once it's lit. If the red light is not coming on there may be a problem in the switch itself... if it's coming on and not going off, most likely something is preventing it from firing up... Do a visual inspection of the heater compartment/ignition mechanism for cobwebs, etc...(spiders like propane...and mud-dabbers like to play in there, too). Next make sure the ignition is sparking. If it's sparking and not lighting and you are reasonable sure it's getting gas, the mix may be too rich or nit rich enough. You can adjust that...but only go a far as you feel comfortable in trouble shooting... if you can't resolve it has it looked at... Good luck! Hopefully others will have additional hints..

If the light stays on the appliance isn't getting propane. When I change my tanks I generally turn on the stove to purge air out of the lines, then light the water heater.

There may be a turn off valve at the water heater too. If it's been turned off, then it's simple to turn back on. BTW this is something that you don't have to go to an Airstream dealer to get fixed, any competent RV tech can troubleshoot it.

I do hope you got a complete stack of manuals with your unit, if not the manufacturer may have one online.

If your water heater is dual-heat (LP and 120 volt), you may have to have one switch on, and the other one off. turn the one with the flame next to it on to turn the water heater on, the light will light, then go out when it lights.
