Couch upholstry
Has anyone ever had their couch re upholstered? I have a 1996 Excella and the couch has had some things spilled on it and does not look all that great anymore. Just wondering about how much it generally would cost to have one done??? I do not suppose airstream would have covers made up for the older ones.

Cost me about $750. Factors are foam, fabric and labor.

Our L-couch had been recovered with leather in our 2006 when we bought it. The owner said he did some work for an upholsterer and that's how he repaid him; barter. You can probably go to any upholstery shop and let them give you an estimate. In ours, they did match the valences on the front windows.
The wife likes the leather, I hate it because I keep sliding off. I'd rather have cloth. She doesn't slide off because she's short and fits on the "L" portion of the couch, putting her feet against the storage cabinet.

Looking into reupholstering our 1965 Tradewind double 24ft. Any idea how much fabric is necessary - or where to find specs? The trailer is original configuration.
Thanks!

For a 2004 Classic 28, about 12 square yards. The Ultraleather is expensive, around $150 per square yard retail.

Check out a material called Rave. I have a vehicle that was upholstered in it 12 years ago. It still looks good. It is far less than 150 bucks a yard.

I just bought Ultra Leather Brisa, a step up from regular Ultra Leather, for $65 a yard from Sailrite via the internet. Regular Ultra Leather would be less expensive than that. There are a number of places where you can get prices in that range. BTW. I was super happy with the customer service and quick shipping I got from them. I am also very pleased with the Brisa and recommend it over the regular Ultra Leather as it is designed to breath and is very supple. Airstream uses it - or at least has used it - in a number of their units.

BTW there is a difference between these various faux leathers, the main one being that most are made of vinyl (PVC) others like Ultra Leather are made of polyurethane which is generally more breathable and supple than PVC based fabrics. It's also more expensive. PVC is going to be more moisture resistant (perhaps a good choice for a boat). Another is the PU is generally thought of as more comfortable to the skin, whether hot or cold.
Here is a link to the Ultra Fabrics Ultra Leather Brisa website if you are interested.
Here is a link to the Sailrite web page with their listing of Ultra Leather Brisa. As of today, it's running $67 a yard.
Note that when buying fabric you buy it by the running yard. The actual width usually runs 54" or so. So you are buying more than a "square" yard. To do my sofa, the end units and the side of my microwave cabinet/pantry my upholster used 8 yards and he said he "just had enough".
FWIW here are before and after pics of the sofa along with an after of the microwave/pantry. Note that the difference in colors is just the lighting. I used the same fabric for everything.

Couch upholstry
I looked long and hard at fabrics to redo my couch in our 310TD Motorhome. Originally was going to go with ultra leather but ended up using Whisper Vinyl. It's very popular in the boating world and classic car and hot rod world. We have been very happy with it over the past couple years. Cleans sooooo easy. Reasonably priced. I think we used about 9 yards.
