Which Roof Edge to use?

Building a canned ham style with Airstream construction methods.

Question. Roof Edge. I'm torn between these two styles.

1. Standard
RV Teardrop Trailer Roof Edge Door Jamb Liner Molding | eBay
Would show off my pretty bucked rivets.
Trempro or Butyl Tape?


2. Vinyl insert

Would this be significantly better at preventing leaks?
Bucked or Pop rivets? I guess you would still use bucked?

Which one would be prettier? I think the standard...

I need guidance.

For the joint where the roof meets the sidewalls.

Well typically the second type is used. The first type would have to be attached from the sides which might be better from a leak standpoint. The second one would have screws coming in from the top and then the plastic insert to cover the screw heads. I don't like this method of construction because of the extreme likelihood of a leak. The screws would be visible on the first one. If you used stainless pan head screws that may not be an issue though. If you used the first one and put some sort of rubber material around the corners it might help with leaks. I remember having square box trailers in Florida and you could watch them rot from all the leaks. An all aluminum frame inside the walls would prevent wood rot.

I would use Tempro for the sealant. I don't like tapes. They will gap and leak.
