Repairable deep scratches

Last night I got a call from my storage company. While moving my trailer the ran it into a wall. Roadside rear corner panel scratch is pretty deep and about 18 inches long. The contract knocked the marker light off which dented the panel towards the front of the trailer.

Then there are a couple of more shallow scratches leading into the lower road side long panel.

I have had the trailer exactly 60 days.

My reaction is that it go back to factory and have them replace the two panels.

Other thoughts, suggestions, condolences appreciated.

Send a message via Skype™ to Melody Ranch
Enjoy the trip to the factory. It is the only right thing to do.
Then....find a different storage facility.

What Melody Ranch said - and -

a) very sorry to hear and see that
b) enjoy the factory tour
c) The service crew there is just fantastic
d) I trust your storage facility is footing the bill

I wouldn't necessarily trade facilities if they make good on their mistake.

Good luck!

If you go back to the factory you can get any other problems you have come across fixed under warranty.

Left a message this morning with the service folks in Jackson Center to get a quote.

On another note I posted this under insurance a few minutes ago. Now I am really bummed if the storage place doesn't cover the damage.

WARNING on Insurance

To my surprise this morning I was told by Good Sam's insurance agency that I did not have any coverage while my trailer is in storage and anyone other myself moves the trailer.

Just had my indoor storage company run into a wall while moving my trailer, my 60 day old new trailer now probably needs the roadside rear corner and side panel replaced.

Working with the storage yard to pay for it since they admitted fully that they screwed up. But....

The wording in the policy says:

loss to your covered auto or any non-owned auto beingmaintained or usedby any person while employed or otherwise engaged in the business of:
a. selling; b. repairing: c. servicing; d. storing; e. parking; f. road testing; or g. delivering vehicles designed for use on public highways.

So in essence if you hand over your AS to a lot, service center, really anyone else and they are doing any of these activities you will be at the mercy of whether they have any insurance coverage in case they damage your unit.

The claims adjuster used a good analogy. You drive up to the valet at the restaurant and have them park your car. The valet does the Ferris Buehler wild ride and totals your car. Valet company has no insurance. You are SOL on a claim.

Needless to say this is eye opening to me. Worth checking your policy. This is section D Exclusions of the Good Sam/National General policy.
