Where can I get a tambour door for my '72 overlander?
The tambour door directly under the cooktop on my '72 overlander is missing. Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement? I'm guessing a salvage yard. Are there any salvage yards that specialize in Airstreams?
Jack I have two 4x8 shhets of brand new factory original tambour material that I ordered from Airstream. I may be going in a different direction whith regards to my interior and would be willing to sell you a sheet if you are interested. PM me if you like and we can discuss it further.
It is available from Airstream and other Airstream parts sellers for big money. If you are looking to change the color or upgrade to a higher quality tambour, someone posted a link to this site a while back.
Lance are you interested in a half polished 73 excella? LOL. I originally was going to keep the interior all original and now that I've gone so far into the resto I'm thinking of modernizing the look of the interior. I'm probably going to reuse the framework of the cabinets and just replace the fake wood. I saw some aluminium tambour but it is not good for roll up doors. I like the functionality of the tambours but the original wood will not look good with the modern look I would like. So I don't know what if any I would have that would be of use to you. I'm still a long way from the interior finish. If I have any luck I may be installing cabinets in Nov/Dec 2011.
